What is a GriefShare support group?

  • Sadness, anger, confusion, numbness—grief can stir all these emotions and everything in between. At times, it may seem like no one truly understands what you're going through, and it’s often hard to know where to turn. This is understandable, but it’s so important to know that you’re not alone—and this is where a GriefShare support group comes in.

GriefShare support groups provide a supportive, caring community that walks alongside you to help you work through the pain of loss. While grief is a journey that no one ever feels prepared for, learning from those who have travelled the path before can be an essential part of taking steps forward.

How GriefShare support groups work

A GriefShare support group meets weekly and offers a supportive space and practical tips for navigating the complexities of grief. The program runs for 13 weeks and includes:

 1. A helpful video full of experts and individuals who understand grief recovery

 2. Group discussions that create space for personal reflection and connection with others who know what you’re going through

 3. A participant guide full of biblical insights, practical tips, and journaling space

Each session is designed to offer a safe place where you can express your feelings, ask questions, and receive support from people who truly get it. No one will push you to share, but you'll have the opportunity to talk as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

We understand that the idea of starting something new right now—or walking into a group you’ve never attended before (either in person or online)—can feel intimidating. This is why we’ve created a GriefShare group session preview to help you know what to expect. Feel free to watch the video below to get a feel for what joining a group will be like. What’s covered during the group

GriefShare support groups were created to help you work through the specific issues and feelings that come along with grief, including:

  • Discovering what’s normal in grief
  • Understanding grief as a journey (rather than occurring in stages)
  • Coping with difficult feelings, like guilt, anger, regret, and more
  • Thinking through the different ways people respond to grief
  • Feeling stuck in your grief—and how to get unstuck
  • Finding ways to honor your loved one
  • And much more!

Each topic is designed to give you the tools you need to take steps forward, little by little, as you navigate this grief journey and move toward healing.
